[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The White House announced that at the upcoming US-China summit scheduled for the 14th, President Joe Biden will convey to Chinese President Xi Jinping the position that China should play a constructive role in stopping North Korea's provocations.
Jake Sullivan, White House National Security Advisor, said during a briefing on Air Force One en route to Cambodia with President Biden on the 11th (local time), "President Biden will tell President Xi that North Korea poses a threat not only to the peace and stability of the United States, South Korea, and Japan but also to the entire region."
He added, "He will also convey that if North Korea continues down this path, it means the United States will have no choice but to further strengthen its military and security presence in the region."

He continued, "Therefore, playing a constructive role in restraining North Korea's worst actions aligns with China's interests as well," adding, "Of course, whether China will do so or not is up to China."
