"Experience AI Technology Firsthand"... LG Opens 'Discovery Lab Seoul'
The Nation's First Experiential AI Education Institution
Operating Educational Programs in Five Areas Including Robot Intelligence and AI Human
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] LG announced on the 10th that it will open 'LG Discovery Lab Seoul' in Magok to nurture the dreams of teenagers who will lead the artificial intelligence (AI) era.
LG Discovery Lab Seoul is an educational facility planned with the purpose of providing education where teenagers living in the AI era can directly experience the future transformed by AI technology and discover their potential. It was designed by the world-renowned architect Tadao Ando. Instead of holding an opening ceremony on the official opening day, the 12th, about 100 middle and high school students will be invited to participate in an 'AI Talk Concert,' a commemorative event where they can talk with LG's AI researchers to broaden their understanding of AI and explore career opportunities.
To provide vivid AI education to teenagers, LG devoted great effort to composing educational programs and producing teaching aids for 'LG Discovery Lab.' Researchers responsible for AI research at LG AI Research, LG Electronics, LG Uplus, LG CNS, and other LG affiliates directly participated in the development and verification of ▲educational programs and teaching aids ▲consultation on educational content ▲special lectures at LG Discovery Lab Seoul.
LG Discovery Lab Seoul divides the AI field into five major categories: ▲robot intelligence ▲visual intelligence ▲language intelligence ▲AI human ▲data intelligence. For each category, teenagers can easily understand and apply the principles of AI technology by practicing with AI technologies applied to LG’s products and services, such as robots related to autonomous driving and smart factories, and chatbots.

LG Discovery Lab Seoul has signed a business agreement with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education and plans to continue cooperation to revitalize AI education by reflecting field feedback in educational program development and conducting teacher training to provide high-quality education.
LG provides free high-quality AI education annually to more than 20,000 teenagers at LG Discovery Lab Seoul and 'LG Discovery Lab Busan,' which opened in October last year. LG expects LG Discovery Lab, the first experiential AI specialized educational institution in Korea, to succeed the legacy of 'LG Science Hall,' the first private corporate science museum in Korea, and establish itself as an educational institution contributing to the local community.
Yang Jaehoon, CEO of the LG Public Foundation, said, "We want to make LG Discovery Lab Seoul a place where 'AI dream trees' can freely pursue their dreams," adding, "LG will continue to do its best to fulfill corporate social responsibility by growing together with the local community."
