It will also operate software and artificial intelligence education camps to strengthen digital capabilities.
On the 8th, the Ministry of Education announced the 'Post-CSAT Academic Operation Support Plan' and stated that it will operate a special student safety period until the end of the year.
During this period, safety education including prevention and response to large crowd situations and emergency treatment methods such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) will be conducted together with metropolitan and provincial offices of education. Educational materials that can respond to educational disasters and emergencies will be distributed, and information on facilities where students can experience and learn emergency treatments such as CPR will be provided. The Korean Red Cross offers paid group and school visit education on CPR, use of automated external defibrillators (AED), and airway obstruction treatment methods.
In addition, the government ministries will jointly strengthen COVID-19 prevention rule education and enhance quarantine management at facilities frequently visited by youth, such as game centers, karaoke rooms, and movie theaters. Violations of youth entry and employment bans will be cracked down on, and safety management of lodging facilities and management of vehicle rentals to minors will be conducted.
From after the CSAT until graduation ceremonies, schools will continue educational activities with in-person classes as the principle. Flexible academic operations are possible according to guidelines by region, but the Ministry of Education has advised against academic operations centered on remote classes. Various curricula will be autonomously operated using student-tailored programs and school-specific programs. Considering school conditions and student characteristics, institutions can autonomously apply for and operate experiential programs and various content provided by each organization.
For high school seniors who did not complete mandatory information education during middle school, free software (SW) and artificial intelligence (AI) education camps will be held during the winter vacation period with support from the Ministry of Education and metropolitan and provincial offices of education. These camps are organized by schools, universities, and private companies and are linked to regular curricula. Applications can be made autonomously by schools or students. The camps operate as student competency-tailored programs including basic and advanced learning linked to regular curricula, project-based collaborative learning, and coding practice. Advanced courses for students interested in software and face-to-face camps for special and multicultural students will also be conducted.
Various online and offline programs will be provided to students preparing for university admission or entering society, including financial and labor education necessary for them, career experience activities to help students explore occupations and set career paths, and university visits to support adaptation to university life. The Korea Inclusive Finance Agency and the Financial Supervisory Service provide financial education programs, the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity offers excellent career experience programs, and the Korea Education and Research Information Service provides open university lectures where students can attend courses in their desired majors.
