Yongin City Opens Public Recruitment for 20 Public Architects
[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is publicly recruiting 20 members of the '3rd Yongin City Public Architects' by the 21st of this month, who will participate in consultation, design, and review in the public architecture fields such as architecture, urban planning, and landscaping.
Yongin City has been operating public architects since 2019 to strengthen the expertise in planning public buildings, improve design quality and management standards, and reduce unnecessary budgets for small-scale buildings.
The 3rd term public architects will serve as design consultants and competition judges for projects in architecture, urban planning, and landscaping from January 9, next year, to January 9, 2025.
They will also participate in the design and designated competitions for small-scale public buildings with design fees under 100 million KRW.
The city will select 17 members in the architecture field, 2 in urban planning, and 1 in landscaping.
Applicants must be licensed architects under the Architect Act, technical experts or majors related to architecture under the National Technical Qualifications Act, or hold qualifications equivalent to associate professor or higher at universities.

A city official stated, "We are introducing and operating private public architects to foster a high-level public architecture culture," and urged, "We hope many innovative and capable architects who will raise the status of Yongin Special City will participate."
