SD Biosensor Selected as Visiting Company for International Vaccine Institute GxP Training Program
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] SD Biosensor conducted a tour of its Cheongju factory for biopharmaceutical workers participating in the International Vaccine Institute's GxP training program.
Participants in the vaccine and biopharmaceutical quality management (GxP) training toured the production facilities at SD Biosensor's Cheongju factory. The global GxP training is organized by the International Vaccine Institute under the cooperation of the World Health Organization (WHO) and hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The main courses include specialized education on international quality standards such as GMP, GLP, and GCP for biopharmaceutical manufacturing, as well as biosafety knowledge.
This is the first time an in vitro diagnostic company has been selected for a visit as part of the International Vaccine Institute's GxP training program. SD Biosensor holds various certifications including ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), and is recognized domestically and internationally for its excellent production facilities.
During the Cheongju factory tour, participants visited the production facilities for SD Biosensor's key products. They observed the manufacturing processes of six products certified by WHO Prequalification (PQ), including malaria, HIV, and HCV tests, as well as COVID-19 products that have received WHO Emergency Use Listing (EUL), and approximately 180 other products.
More than 270 biopharmaceutical workers from 34 countries, including Ethiopia, Egypt, Nigeria, Mongolia, Brazil, and Serbia, participated. These participants came from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, universities, NGOs, and international organizations. Through the three-week GxP training program, the International Vaccine Institute aims to equip participants with essential skills and production capabilities to operate excellent biopharmaceutical production facilities without leaving any region behind.
An SD Biosensor official stated, "We hope that the Cheongju factory tour, which allowed participants to observe SD Biosensor’s internationally certified production facilities and systems, helped enhance their understanding of the training program."
