On the 5th, Lee Jeong-eun6 shot 3-under par on the third day of the Toto Japan Classic (total prize money $2 million), part of the LPGA Tour, held at the Seta Golf Course (par 72, 6,616 yards) in Shiga, Japan, to tie for 4th place (10-under par 206). Momoko Ueda (Japan) leads after two days (14-under par 202), Gemma Dryburgh (Scotland) is 2nd (13-under par 203), Miyu Yamashita is 3rd (11-under par 205), and Yuna Nishimura (Japan) and Linn Grant (Sweden) are tied for 4th.
Starting from a tie for 5th place, 3 strokes behind, Lee Jeong-eun6 made 4 birdies and 1 bogey. After a birdie on the 3rd hole (par 3), she lost a stroke with a bogey on the 11th hole (par 4), then added 'stepping stone birdies' on the 12th and 14th holes, and a valuable birdie on the 17th hole (par 4). She is 4 strokes behind the leader, still in a position to hope for a comeback. Since her rookie year in 2019, when she won her first major title at the US Women's Open, Lee Jeong-eun6 has not collected any trophies.
Dryburgh fired an impressive 7-under par, the daily best. Although she debuted in 2018, she has yet to win a tournament. Grant reduced her score by 5 strokes and joined the race for the title. She was the first female golfer to win the Scandinavian Mixed, a mixed-gender event co-hosted by the DP World Tour and the Ladies European Tour (LET) in June last year. World No. 1 Atthaya Thitikul (Thailand) is tied for 23rd (5-under par 211).
