Seogwipo Coast Guard to Conduct 'Water Leisure Safety Management Activities' Until February Next Year
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Seogwipo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kim Jin-young) announced on the 4th that it will carry out winter water leisure safety management activities from the 4th until the end of February next year.
Seogwipo Maritime Police will proactively promote safety management activities to prevent water leisure accidents in the jurisdiction during the winter season, when the likelihood of accidents caused by bad weather such as strong winds and swell waves increases.
The main activities include pre-inspection of water leisure business sites and major water leisure activity areas, enforcement of whether night navigation equipment (navigation lights, compass, etc.) is equipped for night leisure participants, and distribution of promotional materials such as hot packs with safety rule stickers to raise safety awareness.
A Seogwipo Maritime Police official said, "It is important to prevent accidents by thorough maintenance, engine checks before departure, fuel confirmation, and checking weather information regularly," and added, "Please install the Haerodeu app (海로드) and promptly request rescue from the maritime police in case of an accident."
Meanwhile, the total number of winter water leisure accidents that occurred in the Seogwipo Maritime Police jurisdiction over the past three years is 27.
