On this day, the government and local governments had a session to discuss the winter COVID-19 outbreak forecast, quarantine and medical response systems, and future plans.
In response to the increasing trend of COVID-19 confirmed cases and influenza, the following were requested for promotion and active cooperation: ▲ the necessity of additional winter bivalent vaccine booster shots for the elderly ▲ active administration of oral therapeutics ▲ maintaining indoor mask-wearing and the 7-day isolation obligation for confirmed cases until the outbreak stabilizes ▲ on-site inspection of the principle of spatial and temporal separation in outpatient care.
The government broadly predicts that this winter’s outbreak could reach a maximum of 50,000 to 200,000 cases per day depending on variant influx and vaccine effectiveness scenarios.
Additionally, the progress on supply and support related to the Itaewon accident was shared, and guidance on future disaster safety management and crowd accident prevention activities were also discussed.
