The Manrye Foundation Award is given annually to one outstanding paper in the field of orthopedics that demonstrates high research achievement and impact.
Professor Jang's team was recognized for the excellence of their paper presenting research on wound healing monitoring using nanotechnology (Monitoring Wound Healing with Topically Applied Optical NanoFlare mRNA Nanosensors), earning them this year's Manrye Foundation Award.
Last year, they also received the Academic Award from the Korean Orthopedic Research Society for their paper on infection prevention of orthopedic metals using nanotechnology (Antibacterial Infection and Immune-evasive Coating for Orthopedic Implants).
In this paper, the research team selected representative cells corresponding to each stage of wound healing and messenger RNA (mRNA) biomarkers that can specifically identify them, proposing a diagnostic method that directly observes, quantifies, and objectifies real-time genetic changes using gold nanoparticle probes.
