Korea University Guro Hospital and Seoul 119 Aviation Team Joint Training to Improve Survival Rates of Severe Emergency Patients
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] Korea University Guro Hospital announced on the 4th that it conducted a joint training exercise with the Seoul 119 Aviation Unit on the 2nd at the hospital's heliport to improve the survival rate of critically ill emergency patients.
This joint training, co-hosted by the Korea University Guro Hospital Severe Trauma Specialist Training Center and the Seoul 119 Aviation Unit, aimed to enhance the survival rate of critically ill emergency patients by establishing a joint dispatch system with trauma center medical staff.
The training proceeded in the order of ▲ Heli-EMS project briefing ▲ aircraft safety education ▲ hoist training. Nine personnel from Guro Hospital’s departments responsible for severe trauma patients (Emergency Critical Trauma Surgery, Seoul Trauma Final Treatment Center, Severe Trauma Specialist Training Center), including Professor No Tae-wook of Emergency Critical Trauma Surgery and Professor Ham Chang-hwa of Neurosurgery, attended.
After the training, assuming a severe trauma patient incident in the Gwanaksan area, Guro Hospital medical staff boarded the helicopter and checked emergency treatment procedures inside the aircraft from the patient incident location until arrival at Guro Hospital Emergency Medical Center.
Fire Captain Choi Jin-woong of the Seoul 119 Aviation Unit, who attended the training, said, "The Heli-EMS training conducted this time involves trauma specialist medical staff participating in rescue activities to provide more professional emergency treatment aimed at improving the survival rate of emergency patients. We will do our best to respond immediately when severe trauma patients occur, together with Korea University Guro Hospital, a specialized treatment hospital for severe trauma patients."
