At the event, attended by Nam Han-kwon, Ulleung County Governor, Congressman Kim Byung-wook, Gyeongbuk Provincial Assembly member Nam Jin-bok, Ulleung County council members, and county office officials, they urged the government to take strong measures to protect the territorial security of Ulleung and Dokdo and safeguard the lives of the people.
In the statement, they said, "North Korea's ballistic missile crossing the Military Demarcation Line is an unprecedented incident in the 77 years of division history, and the fact that the missile was aimed at Ulleungdo and Dokdo has left the residents in shock and anger," adding, "The government must not forget the Yeonpyeong Island shelling and the Cheonan incident in response to North Korea's clear territorial invasion."

Governor Nam and Congressman Kim Byung-wook decided to actively propose to the government the need to prepare countermeasures against further provocations by North Korea, review evacuation manuals for residents, and secure complex-type evacuation facilities, including the construction of large bunker-type shelters inside tunnels.
