Namwon-si Holds Workshop on Social Economy Administration and Intermediate Support Organizations
[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Namwon City, Jeonbuk (Mayor Choi Kyung-sik) announced on the 3rd that it held a joint workshop for administrative and intermediary support organizations related to the social economy on the 1st.
This workshop gathered about 30 people from administrative departments and intermediary support organizations such as the community support center, rural comprehensive support center, and return-to-farming and return-to-village support center to discuss the direction of community economic development and policy establishment in Namwon, a mixed urban-rural city.
The workshop held at the Namwon City Community Support Center (Director Ahn Sang-yeon) featured special lectures by Kim Ki-tae, a former social economy secretary at the Blue House and expert advisor, and Professor Won Do-yeon from the Graduate School of Social Economy at Wonkwang University, followed by participant discussions.
As the center of the Namwon regional circular economy, the development strategy discussed focused on fostering village enterprises, moving away from the existing agricultural food processing focus, and diversifying by linking with food plans, integrated community care, and village management.
Additionally, regarding the Hometown Love Donation System, a long-term development plan was proposed to promote public procurement of social economy enterprise products and establish a financial foundation for creating a regional circular economy.
To this end, the Namwon City Community Support Center’s Social Economy Team started an academy on the 2nd to strengthen the business model development and business planning capabilities of village enterprises, which will be held six times in total until the 21st.
This academy includes participation from agricultural cooperatives, cooperatives, and agricultural companies from various areas of Namwon City such as Geumji-myeon, Jusaeng-myeon, Jucheon-myeon, Deokgwa-myeon, Samae-myeon, Sannae-myeon, Hajung-dong, and Geum-dong.
Hwang Do-yeon, head of the Job Economy Division, said, “As an alternative to the rural problem of local extinction and the urban problem of polarization, the social economy actively utilizes local resources to create jobs for vulnerable groups and build an economy based on self-help and mutual benefit. We will do our best to support the focused fostering of village enterprises so that Namwon City can establish a turning point in building a regional circular economy.”
