Saewool Nuclear Headquarters Renames Four Power Plant Units … ‘Shingori 3,4,5,6’ → ‘Saewool 1,2,3,4’
A ceremony commemorating the renaming of the unit at Saeul Nuclear Power Plant is taking place.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Saeul Nuclear Power Headquarters has changed the names of the power plant units at Saeul Nuclear Power Headquarters, which will operate for more than 60 years, to unify them with the headquarters' name. Shin-Kori Units 3, 4, 5, and 6 will be renamed Saeul Units 1, 2, 3, and 4. Shin-Kori Units 1 and 2 are located at the Kori Nuclear Power Plant in Gijang-gun, Busan, and will retain their original names.
To commemorate the unit name change, Saeul Nuclear Power Headquarters held a ‘Power Plant Unit Name Change Commemoration Ceremony’ on the 1st, attended by Hwang Ju-ho, President of KHNP, Kim No-kyung, Director of Citizen Safety Office at Ulsan City Hall, Lee Soon-geol, Uljoo County Governor, and Kim Young-cheol, Chairman of Uljoo County Council.
Lee Sang-min, Head of Saeul Nuclear Power Headquarters, said, “We are very pleased that the name change was confirmed through the favorable opinions of the local community and active cooperation from related organizations,” adding, “The Saeul Headquarters will prioritize safe nuclear power plant operation and construction and strive to be a headquarters that coexists and develops with the local community.”
Hwang Ju-ho, President of KHNP, along with local government officials attending the ceremony, conducted a ‘Safety Inspection of Saeul Units 3 and 4 (formerly Shin-Kori Units 5 and 6) Construction Site’ to prevent major accidents.
The inspection team checked the construction sites of Saeul Units 3 and 4, including the concrete pouring work for the reactor structure of Saeul Unit 4, and confirmed the safety management status at the comprehensive safety control room overseeing the construction site safety.

During a meeting with site managers from partner companies at the construction site, Hwang Ju-ho and Lee Soon-geol hoped that the partners would work together to ensure a safe nuclear power plant construction site and thoroughly manage safety to prevent major accidents.
