'Korea's Talchum' Likely to Be Inscribed on UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List (Breaking News)
Evaluation Body's 'Recommendation for Registration' Decision
'Korea's Talchum (Mask Dance Drama in the Republic of Korea)' has taken a significant step closer to being inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. On the 1st, the evaluation body under the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO issued a 'recommendation for inscription' for Korea's Talchum. Unless unexpected variables arise, the recommendation for inscription is customarily accepted as the final inscription decision at the subsequent Intangible Heritage Committee meeting. The Intergovernmental Committee of the Intangible Heritage will convene next month.
