Shuka, Jeong Il-moon, Kim Young-ik... Who is the '2022 Capital Market Person of the Year'?
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Myunghwan] The Korea Exchange announced on the 31st that it plans to select the final candidates for the '2022 Capital Market Person of the Year.'
Now in its second year, the selection of the 'Capital Market Person of the Year' aims to recognize individuals who have contributed to the innovation of the capital market and the development of Korea's capital market and financial investment industry, the Exchange explained. Last year, Choi Hyunman, Chairman of Mirae Asset Securities, was selected as the Capital Market Person of the Year.
The Exchange received candidate recommendations from member companies, related organizations, the Korea Exchange press corps, and Korea Exchange executives and employees. Considering the number of recommendations, 10 candidates were selected, and through a vote on the official website, the final candidates will be narrowed down to five or fewer. Subsequently, a survey by a professional research institution will determine one individual among the final candidates as the '2022 Capital Market Person of the Year.' The award ceremony is scheduled to take place at the closing ceremony of the 2022 securities and derivatives market on December 29.
The list of 10 candidates includes Kim Gyusik, CEO of the Korea Corporate Governance Forum; Kim Donghwan, host of Sampro TV; Kim Sunghyun, CEO of KB Securities; Kim Youngik, professor at Sogang University Graduate School of Economics; Kim In, manager at BNK Investment & Securities; Oh Geonyoung, deputy head of WM Group at Shinhan Bank; Lee Changhwan, CEO of Align Partners Asset Management; YouTuber Shuka (Jeon Seokjae); Jung Ilmoon, CEO of Korea Investment & Securities; and Hwang Sewoon, senior researcher at the Capital Market Research Institute.

Voting is open to the public through the Korea Exchange website. The Exchange plans to draw 300 participants from among voters to receive coffee coupons.
