[Itaewon Disaster] 38 Gyeonggi Residents Dead, 8 Seriously Injured
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] A total of 38 residents of Gyeonggi Province died and 8 were injured in the crush disaster that occurred on the 29th in Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
According to the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters on the 31st, the deceased residents include 16 men and 22 women, totaling 38 people. By age group, there was 1 teenager, 30 people in their 20s, and 7 people in their 30s. Eight people were seriously injured. Among them, 5 were men and 3 were women, with 7 in their 20s and 1 in their 30s.
Among them, one foreigner is also included.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters plans to support the families of the deceased residents by assisting with transportation to hospitals and funeral homes. Additionally, if fire department support is needed during the funeral procedures such as setting up a joint memorial altar, they will actively provide assistance regardless of the deceased’s place of residence.
Immediately after the accident, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters deployed 98 personnel and 49 vehicles to support activities including transporting 38 deceased and 29 injured individuals.
