Busan City has selected Ambassador Yoo Dae-jong as an honorary citizen of Busan, and on the 28th at 6:20 PM, Mayor Park Hyung-joon will personally present the honorary citizenship certificate at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Haeundae.
Paris is the location of the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) and the most important area where BIE representatives from various countries reside.
Since his appointment as Ambassador to France in November 2020, Ambassador Yoo Dae-jong has conducted over 200 negotiation activities at the Embassy of France targeting BIE member countries.
Among these, about 60 times Ambassador Yoo personally met with ambassadors of member countries to explain the justification for hosting the 2030 World Expo in Busan and actively requested their support, vigorously promoting negotiation activities for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid.
In particular, he actively promoted the charm of Busan, a city mature economically, socially, and culturally, as well as Busan’s hosting capabilities as South Korea’s second-largest city and a logistics network ranked 2nd worldwide in transshipment and 7th in cargo volume.
Ambassador Yoo said, “I believe Busan is a city capable of hosting the 2030 World Expo,” and added, “I will carry out comprehensive negotiation activities until November next year when the host city is decided.”
Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, “Paris, France, is an important area where many representatives of the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) from various countries reside, making negotiation activities targeting them the most crucial at this time.”
