Digital Society Launches to Support 'New York Initiative' Implementation... Founding General Meeting Held

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 28th that it held the inaugural general meeting of the Digital Society at the Westin Chosun Seoul Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul. It signifies the creation of a public forum involving experts from industry, academia, and research to discuss a new digital order.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it held the inaugural general meeting of the Digital Society under the banner "Seize the Future in the Era of the Digital Revolution" at the Westin Chosun Seoul Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the same day.
This organization, composed of over 60 founding members who are experts from industry, academia, and research in the digital field, was established to assist in implementing the New York Initiative announced by President Yoon at New York University and the supporting policy roadmap, "Korea Digital Strategy," as well as to propose directions for digital innovation.
The organization aims to ▲ promote the transition to a digital society ▲ expand the convergence of the digital economy ▲ form a new digital culture. The chairman is Noh Jun-hyung, former Minister of Information and Communication and current chairman of the Korea Information and Communication Broadcasting Alliance (ICT Alliance).
Attending the inaugural general meeting were Park Sung-joong, a member of the National Assembly’s Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Committee from the People Power Party; Park Yoon-kyu, 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT; Ko Jin, Chairman of the Digital Platform Government Committee; and founding members of the Digital Society.
Douglas Rushkoff, a professor at New York University, delivered the keynote speech titled "Digital Transformation and the Future," emphasizing the creation of economic, cultural, and political environments that support a fair and sustainable digital society.
In his commemorative speech, the inaugural chairman, former Minister Noh Jun-hyung, stated, "The Digital Society is a community where intellectuals foresee the future and form new discourses, contributing to designing our economy’s digital innovation and a human-centered digital socio-cultural system."

Park Yoon-kyu, 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, said, "In this epochal civilizational transition, it is important to lead the new order to seize the future. I hope the Digital Society will gather collective intelligence to explore a digital order that will move the world."
