Korea Exchange Delivers Cows to Poor Disabled Families in Vietnam
Support for 90 Families through 'KRX Amso Bank' Project
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Myunghwan] The Korea Exchange (KRX) announced on the 28th that it held a sponsorship fund delivery ceremony for the '2022 KRX Vietnam Cow Bank' project at the auditorium of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee in Vietnam, together with the Global Sharing Movement.
At the ceremony held on the 27th, Ahn Chun-yeop, Secretary General of the KRX National Happiness Foundation, Cho Hyun-joo, Secretary General of the Global Sharing Movement, and Nguyen Tang Phuc, Chairman of Quang Tri Province, Vietnam, attended and delivered cows to 90 disabled poor households in Quang Tri Province.
The 'KRX Cow Bank' project is a microloan-type livestock support program that provides cows to poor households in underdeveloped countries overseas to increase household income and establish a foundation for economic independence.
Quang Tri Province in central Vietnam is the area most affected by the Vietnam War, with particularly high rates of disabled and poor households due to landmine and Agent Orange damage. Since 2018, the Exchange has been carrying out the Cow Bank project for disabled poor households in this region. The support amount reaches 250 million KRW, and the cumulative number of beneficiary households has reached 270.
After providing cows, the Korea Exchange also supports livestock and income management education, vaccinations, and barn improvements to help poor households achieve stable independence.
