Busan International Financial Center (BFC) Hosts Investor IR Event in Singapore
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunju Lee] The Financial Supervisory Service and the Busan Finance Center (BFC) announced on the 27th that they will hold an investment attraction briefing (IR) in Singapore to promote Busan's policies as a financial hub to Singaporean investors.
The Financial Supervisory Service and the Busan Finance Center (BFC) will hold the "2022 Singapore Financial Institutions IR (Busan-Singapore Investors Meeting)" on November 3. The IR will be held in conjunction with the Singapore FinTech Festival (SFF 2022). The IR will target about 100 local financial institutions and investor groups in Singapore, including asset management, banking, insurance, fintech, venture capital (VC), and private equity. Attendees are expected to include Singapore sovereign wealth fund Temasek, Singapore banks, UOB, and Huawei.
The Singapore FinTech Festival is the world's largest fintech event hosted by the Monetary Authority of Singapore since 2016, with participation from 160 countries worldwide. BFC plans to introduce Busan's specialized strengths as a hub for maritime finance and various derivatives, as well as Korea's fintech industry.
Park Young-ho, Director of Financial Policy at the Busan Finance Center, said, "Busan is the second largest city in Korea and is emerging as a Northeast Asian financial hub and the host city for the '2030 World Expo,' based on the world's number one shipyard and Tri-port (land, sea, air) infrastructure." He added, "We will introduce Busan's specialized maritime finance strengths and various benefits offered by Busan in Singapore, and seek directions for financial cooperation between the two maritime cities of Busan and Singapore through networking with local financial institutions, VCs, fintech companies, and accelerators."
