Gwangjin-gu, Nationwide First to Operate 'Mobile Hydrogen Charging Station'
[Seoul District News] Gwangjin-gu to Hold Hyundai Motor-led Opening Ceremony at Hyundai Oilbank LPG Station in Junggok-dong on 27th & Mobile Hydrogen Refueling Station Equipped with Hydrogen Compressor and Storage Tanks Inside Large Truck
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) held an opening ceremony on the 27th for the nation’s first-ever operation of a ‘Mobile Hydrogen Refueling Station.’
The opening ceremony, hosted by Hyundai Motor Company, took place at the Hyundai Oilbank LPG refueling station in Junggok-dong, the site of the ‘Mobile Hydrogen Refueling Station.’ Baek Il-heon, Deputy Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the Korea Gas Safety Corporation, as well as executives and employees from Hyundai Motor affiliates, attended the event to celebrate the opening and tour the station.
The ‘Mobile Hydrogen Refueling Station’ was established to alleviate the inconvenience experienced by existing hydrogen vehicle users during refueling and to ease the anxiety of new users about refueling. The opening of this station is also expected to greatly contribute to encouraging the use of hydrogen vehicles, which cause less environmental pollution.
Inside the large truck that serves as the ‘Mobile Hydrogen Refueling Station’ are installed ▲hydrogen compressors ▲storage tanks ▲coolers ▲refueling devices, enabling hydrogen refueling anywhere. It is a new-concept model that efficiently supports refueling demand using minimal space. Each vehicle can store 50kg of hydrogen, and a total of two vehicles are in operation.
Hydrogen vehicles can be refueled with 2 to 3kg of hydrogen in 8 minutes, allowing for approximately 300km of driving range. The cost is about 8,800 KRW per kilogram.
Hyundai Glovis selected the Hyundai Oilbank LPG refueling station in Junggok-dong, which has good accessibility in the northeastern area of Seoul where refueling stations have not been established, as the first domestic operation site for the station.
