Chungnam Innovates Manufacturing Industry of 'Eco-friendly Mobility' Using Artificial Intelligence
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province is set to accelerate innovation in the eco-friendly mobility (transportation) manufacturing industry, one of the region's key industries, by utilizing artificial intelligence.
On the 27th, the province announced the opening of the "AI Convergence Regional Specialized Industry Support Demonstration Lab" at the Chungnam Institute of Science and Technology Promotion located in Asan.
Chungnam was selected in the Ministry of Science and ICT’s "Regional Specialized Industry AI Convergence Support Project" competition and is promoting the development of AI technologies (solutions) that can be converged and applied to the eco-friendly mobility industry.
This technology is being developed to move away from the traditional method where workers visually inspect products for defects, by applying AI to automatically detect defect types, thereby reducing work time and improving inspection accuracy.
The province plans to apply AI technology not only to intelligent inspection but also to optimize production processes and intelligent product design, covering all areas of the production process. It is expected that after implementation, the productivity of companies will increase by more than 7%.
The demonstration lab, located within the Yojin Y (Y) Mall in Asan where the Chungnam Institute of Science and Technology Promotion is situated, covers a total area of 160.22㎡ and is equipped with facilities and equipment for processing and learning manufacturing data.
In particular, since the data is internal company data, the province emphasized that various security systems such as secure communication networks, access rights settings, and permissions have been designed and implemented to ensure safe processing and utilization.
Going forward, the province plans to promote AI development and demonstration with participating companies through the demonstration lab, leading to the advancement of regional industries and fostering new information and communication technology (ICT) industries.
