The copyright fair use system is a legal safeguard to protect the rights and interests of users of copyrighted works. It was first introduced and implemented in the United States. If copyright infringement occurs but there are no specific conditions defined in the copyright law, a court ruling can be requested.

Ilho E Ilho, a research professor at Yonsei University Law Research Institute, Mira Sundara Rajan, a professor at UC Davis Law School, and Katarina Skanga, a professor at the University of Pisa Law School in Italy, will each introduce the operation status of fair use systems and copyright limitation regulations in Korea, the United States, and Europe, respectively.
Ali Sternberg, Vice President of the Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA) in the United States, will present on the impact of fair use rulings on the industry in the U.S., and Seungbeom Lim, head of Naver Music, will discuss the achievements and expectations of the fair use system from the perspective of the Korean industry. Barton Beebe, a professor at New York University Law School, and Ueno Datsuhiro, a professor at Waseda University Graduate School of Law in Japan, will examine the potential use of the fair use system in the development of new technology industries such as artificial intelligence (AI) and data mining. Data mining is a technology that extracts useful information from vast amounts of data.
