Busan Port Authority (BPA) held the '2022 5th Busan Port Container Terminal Operators Presidents' Meeting' on the 26th and held the 'Busan Port ESG Management Proclamation Ceremony.'
The meeting was attended by representatives of three North Port and seven New Port container terminal operators, with Dongwon Global Terminal Busan (DGT), newly selected as the operator of the New Port West Container Terminal, participating for the first time.
The North Port terminal operators participating in the meeting were Korea Hutchison Terminal (HKT), Dongwon Busan Container Terminal (DPCT), and Busan Port Terminal (BPT).
The New Port terminal operators included Busan New Port International Terminal (PNIT), Busan New Port Corporation (PNC), Hanjin Busan Container Terminal (HJNC), HMM PSA New Port (HPNT), BNCT, Busan Container Terminal (BCT), and Dongwon Global Terminal Busan (DGT).
At the event, BPA proclaimed ESG management to create a sustainable Busan Port and took time to discuss improving the working environment for port workers and measures to enhance container terminal operation efficiency.
BPA and terminal operators promised to mutually cooperate to establish and spread an ESG management culture based on ▲building an organic cooperative system and continuous management innovation ▲realizing an eco-friendly port for 2050 carbon neutrality ▲creating a people-centered safe port where workers' safety and human rights are respected ▲promoting vitality in the port community and win-win cooperation for revitalizing the Busan and Gyeongnam regional economy ▲fair, trustworthy, clean, and transparent management.
BPA is promoting a project to distribute free wandering detection devices to prevent missing persons among dementia patients and people with developmental disabilities, enabling port workers with family members suffering from these conditions to work safely without worry under ESG management.
Additionally, BPA plans to hold a charity event called the drive-through agricultural and marine products market 'Dahamtge Chachacha' in cooperation with container terminal operators and others to support local small business owners and low-income families.
At the meeting, BPA shared the current status of chain portal operations such as the Vehicle Booking System (VBS) and Transshipment Transport System (TSS), which are being promoted to improve the working environment of Busan Port workers and the operational efficiency of container terminals, as well as plans to computerize terminal container delivery receipts, urging joint efforts from operators.
