Hoping to Become a Festival Rather Than a Competition... Busan Office of Education Hosts the 15th National School Sports Club Softball Baseball Tournament
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the "15th National School Sports Club Soft Baseball Tournament" for four days starting from the 27th at Gijang Dream Ballpark Baseball Stadium.
The tournament is hosted by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and organized by the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education and the Korean Sports Council.
The Office of Education operates the tournament as a festival where students representing 16 cities and provinces can learn the values of sports such as fairness, cooperation, and challenge rather than excessive competition, so no rankings or individual records are kept, and no awards are given.
A total of 34 teams and 612 players participate in the tournament, including 7 elementary school teams, 13 middle school teams, and 14 high school teams that won the Superintendent's Cup tournament in each city and province, competing at four fields in Gijang Hyundai Dream Ballpark.
To create meaningful memories for the students participating in the tournament, the Busan Office of Education prepared various attractions and activities such as eight cultural experience booths including magic and face painting, pre-event cultural performances, aerobics and Taekwondo demonstration team performances, and souvenir production.
They also completed preparations for safe tournament operation, including on-site headquarters operation, an ambulance, and professional trainers on standby at all times.
