Autonomous Police Unit and Provincial Public Transportation Department Collaborate with Related Agencies... Special Emergency Duty Implemented
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Chang-won] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 25th that it will conduct special emergency duty in collaboration with related organizations to alleviate airport traffic congestion caused by the surge of autumn Jeju school trip groups and visitors.
Jeju Province recently held a meeting with related organizations at the Autonomous Police Airport Office to seek countermeasures against traffic congestion occurring at specific times within the airport.
The meeting was attended by the Autonomous Police Unit, Jeju Province Public Transportation Division, City Traffic Administration Division, and Korea Airports Corporation Jeju Regional Headquarters to discuss the division of roles and cooperation matters among the organizations.
The Autonomous Police Unit plans to implement special emergency duty by deploying seven officers daily during the Monday to Wednesday morning hours, when school trip groups mainly arrive, to ensure smooth traffic flow around the airport and manage traffic during morning and evening peak congestion times.
In particular, regarding illegally parked vehicles on the entrance roads identified as a major cause of traffic congestion, the Jeju City Traffic Administration Division will revise the airport’s signage from "Fine imposed after exceeding 5 minutes" to "Immediate fine imposed."
Along with this, vehicle parking enforcement will also be conducted during morning hours.
The Korea Airports Corporation Jeju Regional Headquarters agreed to improve the parking environment by early completion within this year of the customer parking lot scheduled to be completed next year, and by flexibly utilizing the parking areas for large buses and rental cars of school trip groups.
