SK Earthon announced on the 25th that about 180 employees from its headquarters and branches participated in a plogging event called 'Sanhaejinmi (山海眞美)' to wish for the successful bid of the Busan Expo. Reflecting the meaning of its mission 'Earthon,' which pursues green business for a sustainable future, the event simultaneously expressed environmental protection and the hope for winning the Busan Expo bid.
Plogging is a newly coined term meaning picking up trash while walking or jogging. It is a compound of the Swedish word "plocka upp," meaning to pick up, and the English word "jogging."
The Sanhaejinmi campaign is SK Innovation's practical ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) activity that carries the meaning of "protecting the mountains (山) and seas (海) from trash, the main cause of environmental pollution, to create a truly (眞) beautiful (美) Earth."
SK Earthon's Sanhaejinmi plogging was conducted simultaneously domestically and internationally using overseas branches in four countries: Peru, Vietnam, Malaysia, and China. Domestically, on the 21st, recalling the success of Korea's bid for the largest international event, the World Cup, the event took place near the Sangam World Cup Stadium. SK Earthon President Myungseong and headquarters employees wore group uniforms with messages supporting the Busan Expo bid and participated in plogging for about an hour and a half.
Overseas, the Lima branch in Peru conducted the Sanhaejinmi plogging on the 19th, and the Ho Chi Minh branch in Vietnam on the 21st. The Lima branch carried out plogging near the Barranco beach, and the Ho Chi Minh branch did so around Nguyen Hue Walking Street and the HCMC Opera House area, using stickers wishing for the Busan Expo bid in the same manner as the headquarters. These locations are all popular tourist and high foot traffic areas, expected to have significant promotional effects. The Kuala Lumpur branch in Malaysia plans to hold the event on the 25th, and the Shenzhen branch in China on the 28th.
Myungseong, President of SK Earthon, said, "This Sanhaejinmi event by SK Earthon gathers the wishes of all members for the Busan Expo and aligns with one of the Expo's slogans, 'Sustainable Life with Nature.' We will continue to support the Busan Expo bid by leveraging SK Earthon's infrastructure."
