[Concall] POSCO Holdings "Lithium Business Expected to Reach Break-Even Point by 2025"
Q3 Earnings Conference Call
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] POSCO Holdings stated on the 24th during the 2022 Q3 earnings conference call that regarding the breakeven point (BEP) timing for its lithium business, "If the schedule proceeds as planned, we expect to generate operating profit by 2025."
POSCO Holdings explained, "We plan to sequentially complete two lithium plants in Gwangyang from the end of 2023 to early 2024," adding, "After the plants are completed, the ramp-up (production capacity enhancement process) and certification period is usually estimated to take 12 to 18 months. That means it will be around 2025 to 2026."

They continued, "We have already operated a demo plant for over two years, securing technology that significantly shortens the ramp-up period," and said, "Regarding certification, we are already partnering with battery companies and are negotiating to shorten the certification period. We expect to complete ramp-up and reduce certification time within 12 months."
