Joint Technology Investment Roadshow Hosted by Agricultural and Food-Related Organizations
Private Capital Investment Attraction Competition Held to Foster Agro-Industry Super-Innovative Growth Companies
Aiming to Contribute to Efficient Investment Information and Revitalization of the Investment Ecosystem
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] The Agricultural Policy Insurance and Finance Service announced on the 24th that it will hold an investment roadshow (hereinafter referred to as the roadshow) for attracting investment in innovative technology startups in the agri-food sector on the 26th at the Millennium Hilton Seoul, in collaboration with the Korea Agricultural Technology Promotion Agency and the Korea Food Industry Cluster Promotion Agency.
This roadshow aims to resolve information asymmetry related to investment by integrating and providing each institution's startups and investment information in the agri-food sector, thereby offering efficient investment information to startups.
'Technology' is a crucial factor for corporate growth. According to the Korea Venture Business Association, among approximately 1,504 KOSDAQ-listed companies (as of 2021), about 73.6% (approximately 1,107 companies) are 'venture companies' competing with advanced technology and ideas. However, the proportion of companies in the agri-food sector among KOSDAQ-listed companies is 3.0% (a total of 14 companies), indicating that the growth of new technologies and startups possessing such technologies in the domestic agri-food sector is still in its infancy.
At this roadshow, investment presentations and product demonstrations will be held for 32 startups with advanced technologies supported by each institution, including ▲ Advanced Technology (Korea Livestock Data / CEO Kyung Noh-gyeom, AI-based contactless farm monitoring system) ▲ Food Tech (Medipresso Co., Ltd. / CEO Kim Ha-seop, data-driven customized health tea capsule recommendation solution) ▲ Green Bio (WeMeat / CEO Ahn Hyun-seok, plant-based protein solution utilizing meat tissue structuring technology).
The investment presentations will invite investors such as corporate venture capital (CVC) to build investment networking with startups and aim for follow-up investments. In particular, the product demonstration will involve experts from domestic large corporations, MDs, and accelerators on-site to simultaneously conduct business feasibility verification and distribution and sales channel networking.
Min Yeon-tae, President of the Agricultural Policy Insurance and Finance Service, said, “Through the agri-food technology investment roadshow, we hope to discover agri-food management entities’ technologies and innovative technology companies in the agri-food sector and contribute to efficient investment information and the activation of the investment ecosystem.”
