President and Executives of the International City Lighting Federation Visit Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival Site
Lighting Technology Exchange with 68 Member Cities from 39 Countries... Festival Promotion and Network Strengthening

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Amid the ongoing Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival in Gyeongnam, on the 22nd, Mary Lumela, president of the International Association of Lighting Designers (LUCI), along with 29 executives and staff, visited the festival site in Jinju.
The LUCI delegation visited to attend the LUCI Busan General Assembly and, upon invitation from Mayor Cho Gyu-il, came to observe the global festival, Namgang Yudeung Festival.
LUCI is an international lighting cooperation organization established to exchange and develop urban lighting policies and related technologies, with 68 cities from 39 countries as members.
Since joining LUCI in 2017, Jinju City has continuously promoted the excellence of the Namgang Yudeung Festival and lanterns, strengthening the network among member cities through technical exchanges in lighting policies.
Upon arrival at the festival site, the LUCI delegation boarded the Kim Si-min ship to tour the Namgang River adorned with floating lanterns, then visited Jinju Fortress to experience firsthand the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival, recognized as a representative festival of Korea and a globally fostered festival.
President Mary Lumela said, “I thank Mayor Cho Gyu-il for inviting us to this beautiful light festival. I am impressed by Jinju’s deep historical and lighting awareness. Also, the night view of Namgang and Chokseokru is very beautiful.”
