Hanwha Supports Elementary Schools with Solar Power and Fine Dust Reduction Equipment Worth 100 Million KRW
Environmental Foundation and 'Making Clear Schools' Campaign
Expanding Recruitment Target to Elementary Schools Nationwide This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] Hanwha Group and the Environmental Foundation announced on the 24th that they will conduct the ‘Creating Clear Schools’ campaign targeting elementary schools again this year. The ‘Creating Clear Schools’ campaign is a social contribution activity that supports the installation of solar power generation facilities in elementary schools to produce eco-friendly energy and improve indoor air quality on campus.
This year, the ‘Creating Clear Schools’ campaign has expanded its recruitment target to elementary schools nationwide and simplified the application process. During the entire month of November, teachers and school staff can apply simply by registering on the ‘Clear School’ website. Parents, local residents, and other members of the public can also apply. If a member of the public applies, the application will be finalized through the school’s consent procedure.
Selected schools will receive support worth approximately 100 million KRW, including solar power generation facilities, window-type ventilation systems, air shower air purification devices, air clean mats, customized greenery, and air quality measurement and monitoring services.
After selection in December, installation will be completed during the winter vacation period to prevent learning loss or issues related to student safety. In addition to equipment support, environmental education will be provided to help students learn about climate crisis and fine dust issues and introduce ways to actively respond to them.
A representative of Clear School stated, “Through the Creating Clear Schools campaign, not only has indoor air quality improved, but students’ interest in climate change and environmental issues has also increased. With the simplified application process and expanded recruitment targets, we expect much interest and participation in this campaign that provides our children with an educational environment filled with clean air.”

In the first year of the campaign last year, four schools in the metropolitan area (Seoul Boramae Elementary, Seoul Eunpyeong Elementary, Seoul Sangmyung University Affiliated Elementary, Gwangmyeong Chunghyun Elementary) were selected, gifting ‘Clear Schools’ to a total of 3,528 students across 140 classes. Eco-friendly education was also conducted for all students.
Lee Youngkyu, a teacher at Sangmyung University Affiliated Elementary School, said, “In March, through the Clear School campaign, we received support for various facilities. These were difficult to achieve with the school’s own budget, so parents were very satisfied. It was good that the support did not end with just providing facilities but also included continuous maintenance such as after-service.”
