Bank of Korea to Hold 'CBDC Policy Research Symposium' on the 25th
Korea Financial Research Institute and Seoul National University Financial Economics Research Institute Joint
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The Bank of Korea Economic Research Institute, the Korea Institute of Finance, and the Seoul National University Financial Economics Research Institute announced on the 24th that they will jointly hold a CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) policy research symposium at the Bankers' Hall on the 25th.
Major central banks are actively conducting research related to the introduction of CBDCs with the aim of successfully supporting the digitalization of national economies, expanding financial inclusion, and reducing transaction costs between countries.
This symposium will be conducted with a limited number of invitees who are policy research and practical experts related to CBDC for in-depth discussions. Experts will discuss policy research reports focusing on the necessity of introducing CBDCs, their impact on monetary policy and financial stability, and explore additional areas requiring further research.

The main papers presented will undergo a review process and are scheduled to be published as a special issue in the fourth quarter of this year in the Bank of Korea Economic Research Institute's academic journal, "Economic Analysis."
