Gyeonggi-do Conducts Reality Check on 'Construction Subcontracting Irregularities'
From October to November, 8 construction sites under order
Administrative guidance, business suspension, and fines imposed upon detection
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province will conduct a subcontracting status inspection at eight construction sites commissioned by the province.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 24th, "From the 25th of this month to the 18th of next month, the inspection will focus on 21 items related to illegal subcontracting and the obligations of construction contractors."
The key inspection items include ▲whether there is blanket subcontracting or subcontracting to unregistered construction businesses ▲compliance with payment deadlines for subcontracting fees and advance payments ▲issuance of payment guarantees for subcontracting fees and construction equipment rental fees ▲notification of subcontracting contract details by the ordering party, among others.
Minor issues found during the inspection will be administratively guided on-site, while violations such as delayed payment of subcontracting fees will be subject to administrative measures including business suspension, fines, and penalties in accordance with the "Framework Act on the Construction Industry."
Previously, from May to October, the province conducted preliminary consulting on major subcontracting violations, recent legal amendments, and electronic payment systems at eight construction sites commissioned by the province.
Unfair practices such as delayed payment of subcontracting fees and construction equipment rental fees by general construction companies located in the province can be reported to the "Subcontracting Irregularities Reporting Center (Gyeonggi Provincial Government website)."
