Ulsan City, Korea Forest Service, and Embassy of the Netherlands in Korea Jointly Hold 'Taehwagang National Garden International Academic Symposium'
The largest Sipri Daegil in Korea, stretching about 4km along the Taehwa River within the Taehwagang National Garden.

On the 21st at 1 PM, Ulsan City held the 'Taehwagang National Garden International Academic Symposium' at the Ulsan Exhibition & Convention Center.
This symposium was jointly hosted by three organizations: Ulsan City, the Korea Forest Service, and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Korea.
About 300 participants including Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, Korea Forest Service Chief Nam Sung-hyun, Dutch Ambassador to Korea Joana Donabart, domestic and international experts, and garden enthusiasts attended.
The event proceeded with keynote speeches, thematic presentations, and discussions, and was broadcast live on Garden TV and the ubc Ulsan Broadcasting news YouTube channel.
Before the event, Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom awarded Piet Oudolf and Bart Hoes with the 'Ulsan Honorary Citizen Certificate' in appreciation of their contributions to the creation of the naturalistic garden.
Regarding the main event, Youngsun Jung, CEO of Seoan Landscape Design, delivered the keynote speech titled 'Introduction to Korean Gardens and the Value of Public Gardens.'
The thematic presentations covered ▲ Garden foundations and the value of public gardens ▲ Climate change and the role of public gardens ▲ The philosophy embodied in the naturalistic garden of Taehwagang National Garden.
The discussion was moderated by Professor Jinwook Kwon of Yeungnam University, focusing on the role of Taehwagang National Garden (public garden) and garden culture.
Additionally, Ko Jung-hee, Chairman of the Karl Foerster Foundation in Germany, sent congratulatory greetings online to domestic and international garden enthusiasts.
Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom stated, “This symposium was a meaningful occasion to share the significance of advanced cases of domestic and international public gardens and the expansiveness of garden culture, to explore the future of public gardens and the potential and role of development as a garden city, and furthermore, to reflect on the current state of national gardens and discuss long-term directions for garden culture development.”

The 'naturalistic garden' within Taehwagang National Garden was created by Ulsan City in collaboration with world-renowned garden designer Piet Oudolf (Netherlands) on the existing Chrysanthemum Garden site (18,000㎡).
