[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 23rd that it will introduce a reusable container ordering function within delivery apps to reduce plastic waste caused by disposable delivery containers and provide interest-free loans to small reusable container businesses for facility operation expenses.
Seoul selected two companies through the first announcement in the first half of this year and supported loans totaling 400 million KRW. Companies selected this time can also receive interest-free loans of up to 200 million KRW based on the review results of the loan review committee.
The loan review results will be announced in November, after which bank loans can be processed. Since loans may not be possible during the financial institution's screening process after business selection, companies wishing to apply should check the credit limit with their bank before applying. Companies having difficulty providing collateral can set collateral through the Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation or the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund.

The application period is from the 24th to the 26th, and applications can be submitted by visiting the Seoul Resource Circulation Division between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Choi Cheol-woong, head of the Seoul Resource Circulation Division, said, “Providing interest-free loans to small reusable container businesses is even more meaningful considering the current financial market situation,” and added, “Seoul will continue to make efforts to promote the culture of using reusable containers.”
