HanmiGlobal Compiles First Private North Korea Construction Infrastructure... Publishes Book Preparing for Unified Korean Peninsula
[Asia Economy Reporter Noh Kyung-jo] HanmiGlobal announced on the 21st that it has published a book titled "Unified Korean Peninsula Development Vision and Construction Industry Strategy."
Published by HanmiGlobal's Korean Peninsula Construction Industry Strategy Research Institute, this book includes short-term and mid-to-long-term measures for the successful construction of major construction infrastructures such as railroads, roads, maritime ports, aviation, energy, and industrial complexes in preparation for the unification of the Korean Peninsula. It also presents solutions to preliminary considerations for unification, including laws, land ownership, financing, and currency issues. The book contains plans to prevent North Korea's indiscriminate development and to expand the construction territory beyond the Korean Peninsula to Northeast Asia through a tangible and intangible development paradigm.
HanmiGlobal emphasized that this book allows readers to anticipate construction industry entry strategies and blueprints for North Korean development in preparation for unification. Experts from various fields, including the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, Korea Transport Institute, and Korea Energy Economics Institute, participated as contributors. The book contains not only the research team's own findings but also government policy measures. HanmiGlobal added that this is the first publication by a private company to compile research related to North Korea, especially on construction infrastructure, conducted by the government, government-invested institutions, and academic societies.
HanmiGlobal has been preparing for the unification of the Korean Peninsula for a long time. Kim Jong-hoon, Chairman of HanmiGlobal, established the research institute in 2020 with a sense of responsibility and awareness of issues related to the era of a unified Korean Peninsula. The institute collects and analyzes materials related to North Korea and unification, studying strategies for the national construction industry's entry into North Korea following unification and desirable directions for North Korean development based on sustainable development. Earlier, in 2014, Chairman Kim founded the "Korean Peninsula Land Forum" within the National Academy of Engineering and has been making efforts such as supporting North Korean defectors and operating a unification talent academy through the social welfare foundation "Ddaddeuthan Donghaeng."
