Are Women the Trend Among Seoul District Public Relations Chiefs?...16 out of 25 (64%) Are Female
Among Seoul's 25 Districts, 16 Female Public Relations Chiefs (64%)... 11 Female Media Team Leaders (44%) Compared to 15 Male Leaders (56%)... With a Significant Increase in Female Officials, the Era of Women in Public Relations Has Arrived
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The heads of public relations departments in Seoul's autonomous districts are predominantly women.
Women are now occupying the positions of public relations heads, which were once considered exclusive to men.
This is interpreted not only as an increase in female department heads but also as a judgment that women's delicate sensibilities, in line with changing times, would be beneficial for public relations.
Out of the 25 autonomous districts in Seoul, 16 public relations heads are women, accounting for 65%, well over half.
They are Dosunshim from Jung-gu, Younghee Lee from Yongsan, Eunkyung Kim from Dongdaemun, Jinbun Woo from Jungnang, Mijo Yoo from Seongbuk, Eunkyung Lim from Eunpyeong, Youngjoo Choi from Yangcheon, Mikyung Choi from Gangseo, Hyunsook Choi from Guro, Jungha Ma from Geumcheon, Oksun Yoo from Yeongdeungpo, Haeyoung Jung from Dongjak, Sookhee Lee from Gwanak, Kyungwon Yoon from Seocho, Eunhyang Oh from Gangnam, and Hyeonjeong Choi from Songpa.
On the other hand, among the heads of media teams in the autonomous districts, women number 11, accounting for 44%, while men number 14, accounting for 56%.
This seems to be the result of the judgment that men are more suitable as media team heads, who need to actively engage with the press.
The media team heads are Suyeon Yoo from Jung-gu, Eunkyung Kwon from Yongsan, Jinsook Lee from Seongdong, Kyungmin Kim from Gwangjin, Mihui Park from Dongdaemun, Mikyung Choi from Seongbuk, Dongjin Kim from Dobong, Yoonkyung Jung from Nowon, Jina Na from Seodaemun, Yoonyoung Kwon from Mapo, and Jinsu Chae from Gwanak.

An official from the autonomous districts stated, “Recently, the gender ratio of successful candidates for autonomous district public officials is 7:3 in favor of women, so as the number of female public officials increases, the proportion of women in both public relations heads and media team heads seems to be gradually rising.”
