40s Male Arrested for Assaulting and Causing Death of Passing Pedestrian
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] A man in his 40s accused of assaulting a passerby in front of a restaurant run by his wife, resulting in the passerby's death, has been arrested by the police.
On the 20th, the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul announced that they had urgently detained a man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, on suspicion of assault causing death the previous day.
Mr. A is suspected of assaulting a passerby, a man in his 50s identified as Mr. B, with his fist around 8:40 p.m. the previous day, leading to Mr. B's death. Mr. A got into an argument with Mr. B, who was passing in front of the restaurant run by Mr. A's wife in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, and struck Mr. B in the face with his fist. Mr. A and Mr. B were strangers prior to the incident.
The police, who responded to the report, transported the collapsed Mr. B to the hospital, and Mr. A accompanied them voluntarily. However, Mr. B died at the hospital, and the police urgently detained Mr. A during the investigation. It is reported that Mr. A admitted to the charges.
