Mokpo National University Receives Top 'A' Grade in National University Development Project Comprehensive Evaluation
Secured a Total Project Budget of 3.1 Billion KRW Including Incentives This Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Mokpo National University in Jeonnam achieved the highest 'A' grade among 38 national universities nationwide in the 2022 comprehensive evaluation (2018?2022) of the 'National University Promotion Project,' overseen by the Ministry of Education and managed by the National Research Foundation of Korea.
Mokpo National University, which received the highest grade, will be supported with a total project budget of 3.1 billion KRW, including an incentive of 1.32 billion KRW this year.
The National University Promotion Project is designed to strengthen the public nature of national universities as 'national' institutions and enhance their competitiveness in education and research as 'universities,' supporting national universities to serve as central institutions for nurturing high-level talent and regional innovation.
It also supports national universities as key institutions in local communities to discover unique development models and lead balanced national development.
By conducting the public-interest CREAT project to establish a regional balanced development ecosystem, Mokpo National University secured the public nature and accountability of national universities through goals such as ▲ fostering specialized creative convergence professionals ▲ spreading university culture regionally ▲ settling outstanding local talents who are socially considerate in the region ▲ building a regional innovation platform.
In this evaluation, Mokpo National University was recognized for excellent cases in the National University Promotion Project, including ▲ policy goals and project objectives ▲ deriving best practices and improvement points based on self-evaluation ▲ planning for the following year ▲ setting goals and directions by area ▲ establishing a social service center and expanding self-directed volunteer programs ▲ operating creative convergence major curricula reflecting the characteristics of the southwestern region.
