Police University Drone Security Institute Advances South Korea's Public Safety Drone Project
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The Police University Drone Security Research Institute held an academic forum on the 19th at Songdo Convensia in Incheon under the theme "Current Status and Prospects of the Security Drone Industry."
According to the police, this forum was held in conjunction with the exhibition viewing of the "2022 International Security Industry Expo." Song Jeong-ae, President of the Police University, said in her welcoming address, "Drones are receiving significant attention as a core technology advancing future society, including logistics and mobility innovation," adding, "Countries around the world are actively promoting policies to foster the drone industry." An Seong-jun, President of the Korea Drone Society, stated, "Drones perform a wide range of roles not only as defensive tools for social safety, such as accident and disaster monitoring, hazardous material detection and removal, but also post-event roles like search and rescue and criminal investigations, and their roles are continuously expanding."

The Drone Security Research Institute was established in October 2016 and held its first academic seminar in November of the same year under the theme "Police Use of Drones and Public Safety." Kang Wook, Director of the Drone Security Research Institute, said, "We will continue to conduct research to contribute to enhancing the police's scientific security capabilities."
