Starbucks "Automatic Donation When Drinking Coffee at Stores Nationwide on the 20th"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Starbucks Korea announced on the 19th that it will hold a Community Hour donation event to give back a portion of the proceeds from Starbucks stores nationwide to local communities in celebration of the 8th anniversary of the opening of its domestic Community Store.
On the 20th, from 3 PM to 5 PM, Starbucks will accumulate 300 KRW for every item sold at Starbucks stores nationwide during the two-hour period. The entire accumulated amount will be donated to the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation for the youth talent development program at the Daehakro store, the first Community Store.
Starbucks Community Stores are community benefit-sharing stores that accumulate 300 KRW for every item sold regularly and carry out activities with affiliated NGOs to bring about positive changes in local communities.
Starbucks currently operates a total of three Community Stores. In October 2014, the Daehakro store was converted into the first Community Store for youth talent development. In May 2020, the Seongsu Station store was launched as the second Community Store to support youth entrepreneurship culture, and in December last year, the Seoul National University Dental Hospital store was converted into the third store, the first Starbucks store with inclusive interior design aimed at improving disability awareness.
