Targeting Early Completion of Gaduk New Airport... Busan City Holds National Assembly Policy Forum
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan City held a "National Assembly Policy Forum for the Early Completion of Gadukdo New Airport" at 10 a.m. on the 18th in the 3rd Seminar Room of the National Assembly Members' Office Building in Yeouido.
The forum was organized by National Assembly member Jeong Dong-man and hosted by the "Busan City Maritime Smart City Creation Public-Private Joint Task Force (TF)."
Attendees included Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon, National Assembly members Jeong Dong-man and Choi In-ho of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, and Lee Sang-heon, head of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Gadukdo New Airport Construction Promotion Team.
Officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and experts from various fields gathered to discuss the "early completion of Gadukdo New Airport," a key infrastructure for the successful bid of the 2030 Busan World Expo, brainstorming ways to open the airport ahead of schedule.
The forum featured presentations on ▲ "Basic Plan Promotion Direction for Gadukdo New Airport" by Lee Sang-heon, head of the Gadukdo New Airport Construction Promotion Team, and ▲ "Proposal for Non-Reclamation Airport and Breakwater" by Um Hang-seop, CEO of Allsidata, followed by a panel discussion chaired by Shin Jong-gye, Professor Emeritus at Seoul National University.
The panel discussion included Kim Ga-ya, Professor Emeritus at Dong-Eui University; Song Hwa-cheol, Professor at Korea Maritime and Ocean University; Lee Doo-hyung, Professor at Silla University; Um Hang-seop, CEO of Allsidata; and representatives from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, who discussed creative and technical alternatives for the early completion of the new airport and gathered diverse expert opinions.

Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon stated, "The early opening of Gadukdo New Airport will play the most important role in the successful bid for the Expo," adding, "Starting with this policy forum, we will continuously create opportunities for experts from both the public and private sectors to engage in intense discussions to ensure the rapid completion of Gadukdo New Airport."
