Building an Eco-Friendly Port... BPA Launches Port's First 'Eco-Friendly LNG Road Tractor Operation'
Officials participating in the 'Eco-friendly LNG Road Tractor Delivery Ceremony' are holding a commemorative event.
View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Port Authority (BPA) is launching a pilot project to operate logistics transport tractors fueled by LNG (liquefied natural gas) instead of conventional diesel, the first of its kind at domestic ports.
On the 17th, BPA held a 'Green LNG Road Tractor Delivery Ceremony' at its headquarters outdoor parking lot and delivered two LNG road tractors to two logistics transport companies.
About 20 officials from Korea Gas Corporation, Korea Natural Gas Hydrogen Vehicle Association, Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle, Dongryun Logistics, and HU Logistics attended the event.
The delivered LNG road tractors are 460-horsepower large tractors developed by Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle and will be deployed for container transport at Busan Port.
Unlike diesel, the LNG used as fuel by the tractors produces almost no pollutants during vehicle operation, making it effective for improving air quality.
To create a fine dust-free eco-friendly port, BPA signed an implementation agreement in February with transport companies Dongryun Logistics and HU Logistics for the 'Busan Port Eco-friendly LNG Road Tractor Introduction Project.'
The authority plans to monitor the performance of LNG road tractor operations for one year and then consider expansion plans.
