The 2022 Buddhist Culture Lecture Theme is Seokgul Culture... Applications Accepted Until the 19th
[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The 2022 Buddhist Culture Lecture hosted by the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism Central Buddhist Museum is opening.
This year's theme is "Buddhist Art Encountered in Chinese Grotto Temples." It provides an opportunity to understand the concept of grotto culture, a Buddhist culture that began in India and spread to China and Korea. The lecture will take a detailed look at representative Chinese grottoes such as Dunhuang, Yungang, and Longmen Grottoes. The lecture will be given by Professor Lim Young-ae from the Department of Cultural Heritage and the Graduate School of Art History at Dongguk University.

Applications are available on the Central Buddhist Museum website until the 19th. The lectures will begin on the 24th and continue on the 31st, and the 7th and 14th of next month, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Traditional Culture and Arts Performance Hall on the B2 floor of the Korean Buddhist History and Culture Memorial Hall. Participation is free of charge.
