Gurye-gun Wins "Special Award" in 2022 Life Love Logo Song Dance Challenge
Honored with Special Award in Jeollanam-do Sponsored Event with Participation from 22 Cities and Counties
[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] On the 17th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it won the special award in the group category at the 2022 Life Love Logo Song Dance Challenge Competition, which involved 22 cities and counties of Jeollanam-do.
To mark Suicide Prevention Day (September 10), Jeollanam-do and the Metropolitan Mental Health Welfare Center held the Life Love Logo Song Dance Challenge Competition to raise awareness about suicide issues, encourage interest in suicide prevention, and spread a culture of respect for life. In this event, Gongbuk Village in Gwangui-myeon, a Life Love Village with village chiefs, participated in the competition mainly with seniors aged 65 and over and enjoyed the joy of winning.
In this competition, Gongbuk Village performed choreography conveying the preciousness of life and contact information for support organizations to the Life Love logo song "Sojunghan Dangsin" ("Precious You"). By winning the special award, they received a prize of 500,000 won, which was delivered to Gongbuk Village, and the video was posted on the center’s homepage.
Furthermore, in October 2022, eight villages in Gwangui-myeon signed an agreement with the Gurye-gun Mental Health Welfare Center and started the Life Love Village project with village chiefs.
The village chiefs, who are familiar with local circumstances, are practicing life love and neighborly love by creating a suicide-safe community, broadcasting the suicide prevention logo song, timely identifying suicide risks in the surroundings, and linking them to the center.
County Governor Kim Sunho said, “We will strengthen the responsibility of the local community for suicide prevention and strive to maximize treatment and prevention effects through early detection of psychiatric difficulties or potential depression patients.”
