Hyundai Heavy Industries Group announced on the 17th that it has prepared the 'From Hyundai to the Future, One Heart Walking Challenge' to pledge a vigorous challenge toward the next 50 years, and is accepting participation applications from all group employees.
This challenge will be conducted by dividing the 340 km section from Gangneung, Gangwon Province, departing on the 16th of next month, to the Hyundai Heavy Industries Group Global R&D Center (GRC) to be established in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province, into 18 courses, with groups of 10 employees walking in succession.
In addition, an online challenge will be held simultaneously so that employees of 12 group companies located nationwide, including Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, Hyundai Construction Equipment, Hyundai Electric (all in Ulsan), Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (Yeongam, Jeonnam), Hyundai Oilbank (Daesan, Chungnam), and Hyundai Doosan Infracore (Incheon), can participate in their daily lives.
The first starting point of the challenge is the Seamarq Hotel in Gangneung (formerly Hotel Hyundai Gyeongpodae). This place was frequently visited by founder Chung Ju-yung, who reminisced about his hometown Tongcheon in Gangwon Province, and every year held a new employee training camp where he encouraged young employees by playing Ssireum and volleyball with them.
Afterwards, the route passes through Pyeongchang and Wonju in Gangwon Province, then through Changwoo-dong, Hanam City, Gyeonggi Province, where founder Chung Ju-yung’s tomb is located, and Gye-dong Hyundai Building in Seoul, finally arriving at the GRC, a space that will open the group’s new future.
This challenge uses a matching method where participants nominate colleagues they want to walk with; any group employee can apply by simply writing a brief application story.
The online challenge is conducted using a walking mobile application so that anyone who wishes can participate, and the company plans to donate to organizations supporting future talents an amount corresponding to the steps accumulated by employees, adding a spirit of sharing and coexistence.
Also, during the event period, 100 participants who produce content containing fun and meaningful episodes and 100 participants selected by lottery from the walking challenge participants will receive various prizes.
