Dexter Studio Supports Industry-Academia Cooperation Field Visit with International Broadcasting Exchange Foundation
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Dexter, a visual effects (VFX) and content specialist company, conducted social contribution activities by supporting field trips for high school students.
Dexter Studio announced that it supported a corporate exploration field trip program for Gwangshin Broadcasting Arts High School, which has an industry-academia cooperation agreement with the International Broadcasting Exchange Foundation (Arirang International Broadcasting) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The program was held at Dexter Studio's headquarters in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. It consisted of a company introduction, followed by presentations on the VFX pipeline, animation department, and job preparation.
Lee Woosang, head of the Animation Office in the Production Department 1 of the VFX Headquarters at Dexter, served as the main speaker. Lee initially entered the industry as a CG artist in the video production team of a domestic advertising company. In 2010, he began his career as an animator at the VFX company Digital Idea, starting with the film "The Man from Nowhere." He is currently active as a VFX animation supervisor. He has participated in numerous works including the films "I Saw the Devil," "The Target," "Mr. Go," "The Pirates," "Along with the Gods," "Ashfall," "Peninsula," "Space Sweepers," "Mogadishu," "Alienoid," and "Emergency Declaration."
Lee Woosang advised, "There are more diverse environments available to learn than when I first entered the field as a practitioner. It will be helpful to build your own portfolio by utilizing excellent observation skills and sensory thinking as an artist to enter the industry."
He added, "It was a meaningful time to talk about common interests and career paths with animator students currently attending high school. I hope the students who participated in the program become future talents."
Oh Yunseok, head of the Cartoon and Video Department at Gwangshin Broadcasting Arts High School, said, "We were able to visit Dexter Studio, a leading VFX company, and vividly see artists actually working. The job introduction and career guidance for cartoon and video students were very helpful."
