Additionally, criticism has arisen over an estimated additional budget of 4 billion KRW due to the project extension.
According to Assemblyman Kim Young-sun on the 15th, the construction of the Changwon Tax Office building began in 2019 with a planned construction period of about five years, aiming for completion in 2023. However, the National Tax Service has yet to start construction, increasing dissatisfaction among local taxpayers.
Moreover, the extension of the Changwon Tax Office building project period is leading to a waste of public funds. Since last year, the Changwon Tax Office has been renting the STX Ocean Tower for its operations. For this, the National Tax Service is spending an annual budget of 1.17 billion KRW.
Considering the rising costs of rent and raw materials, the total cost due to the project extension is expected to increase by approximately 4 billion KRW. This estimate is based on the current stage before construction has even begun, so the actual total cost is likely to be even higher.
