'9th Anniversary' Gwangju Science Museum, Rising as a Hub for Science Culture Expansion
Various Science Events Abundant in Celebration of the Opening Anniversary
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The National Gwangju Science Museum is showcasing various science events to celebrate its 9th anniversary.
The Gwangju Science Museum is operating a special autumn science week under the theme "Autumn, Science Spreads" until the 30th of this month.
During this period, a series of events including ▲2050 Carbon Zero City ▲Art Science Festival ▲Gwangju Science Invention Festival ▲Artificial Intelligence Science Golden Bell ▲Gwangju Science Culture Festival and more will be held continuously.
In particular, the 'Carbon Zero City' special exhibition consists of over 50 interactive exhibition contents across five themed zones such as a burning Earth and climate crisis, providing an engaging experience.
According to an internal survey, 90% of visitors responded that they were very satisfied.
Deputy Director Jeon Tae-ho stated, “We will continue to do our best so that all generations, from children and adolescents to adults, can enjoy science like play, using the science museum as a resting place.”
Meanwhile, the Gwangju Science Museum opened in 2013 and has renewed its cumulative visitors by 1 million each year since 2016. Although COVID-19 posed challenges, it proudly surpassed 5 million cumulative visitors last month.
It is analyzed that the core values of unique exhibitions encompassing light, sound, and art have attracted significant participation.
The Gwangju Science Museum is also accelerating the dissemination and popularization of 'Science Culture' by presenting the standard for out-of-school science education. As part of this, in May, it unveiled the Children's Science Museum, a specialized complex science culture space for children, aimed at nurturing future talents.
