Yeonggwang-gun Launches 'Population Policy Committee'... 31 Members Appointed
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Jeollanam-do Yeonggwang-gun (Governor Kang Jongman) announced on the 13th that it held the 3rd Population Policy Committee on the 12th at the county office's large conference room, with about 30 committee members present, and awarded appointment letters.
The Population Policy Committee is a public-private cooperative system that advises and deliberates on major population policy matters to increase the local population by responding to the crisis of population cliff caused by declining birth rates and population structure imbalance such as the decrease of young population, and improving residential conditions such as jobs, culture, welfare, and housing.
The committee consists of 40 members including the chairman, and the county's intention to actively reflect not only expertise but also voices from various social classes was evident, as it includes experts with abundant knowledge and experience in various fields, county council members, related officials, as well as village chiefs, housewives, and youth.
During their two-year term, the committee members will play a role in deliberating and advising on matters to promote regional vitality, including the comprehensive population policy plan of Yeonggwang-gun.
At the meeting, appointment letters were awarded to 31 appointed members, and a report was given on the 2022-2023 Local Extinction Response Fund projects.
Governor Kang Jongman said, “I expect that more systematic and realistic alternatives will be proposed by reflecting the voices of experts on population issues and various social classes,” and added, “We will discover diverse and effective projects across a wide range of areas to improve the quality of life for residents and make this a region where anyone wants to come and live.”
